Camping at Cape Keraudren

Once again, we have travelled north to the warmth and sunshine. This time we have taken an extra week's leave so that we can have a little more relaxed trip. Currently we are set up not far from the water at Cape Keraudren having travelled "express" to get here. The trip was uneventful, but we do love the drive! This year we have more phone access than ever before, so we will be updating this page a little more often and will post pictures as we go. The water looks wonderful, but unfortunately the wind is really blowing so we are not able to get out in the kayaks. They are all rigged and ready to go, but mother nature is standing between us and the water. Unfortunately, the forecast is for strong winds over the next few days.

Our Campsite.

Friday, 6th June -  We have had a lovely week, not doing much because the wind has been too high. We got a bit of a scare earlier in the week when we saw smoke to the east. The short story is that the local pastoralist had permits to light some fires and chose the windiest week possible to do it. The fires burned for a few days but the upside was some fantastic sunsets! We headed out along the Nullagine Road to collect some firewood. We had to travel about 20km before we found anything suitable, but we got to give our new chainsaw (Baby Chopper or BC) a good workout. It is small, but packs a punch - getting us a good supply of wood in no time. On Thursday, we tried to launch the Kayak in Firewood Creek and managed to fish for about an hour and a half. We came home with nothing, but the tides were impressive. We are heading out into the bay soon to give it a go - hopefully the wind will drop off enough for us to launch! We will keep everyone posted.
