In January, whilst we were camping on the southern coast, we were delighted to hear that Sophie and David had become engaged. The phone reception in the area where we were camping was very patchy and we were worried that we might have misheard them, but it turns out that we did hear correctly. we weren't able to discover all the details until after our return.

It appears that David did things well, taking Sophie to Frasers Restaurant in Kings Park and setting the scene for a romantic proposal. Sophie didn't seem to want to co-operate however and as he was trying to find the right moment to pop the question, Sophie was more intent on chasing ducks in the park. Obviously David did find the right moment and Sophie accepted the proposal.
We held a small family celebration at a local restaurant on our return from our trip and planned a bigger celebration for March. The chosen date was March 17 with the venue being our place. Fortunately, the weather was superb and the company was even better. We enjoyed a fantastic day celebrating with family (both ours and Sophie's) and friends. We are so happy for David and Sophie! They are travelling to England in July so that David can meet the rest of Sophie's family and to start sorting out wedding details. No firm date has been set as yet, but both of us are anticipating a trip to England sometime soon!
